W. G. [C?] MACKEY
Co 21 25 US C1 [ there is a shield engraved on the stone that has
“Onward” on the bottom. The grave has a flag indicating that the
veterans groups know of this soldier's service and have decorated the
grave.
The date on his grave is unreadable, if there was a date? [We looked
this symbol up on the Internet and found the following information
about it: It has a castle and a palm tree on navy blue background. It
was described as the US. Army 25th Infantry Regiment Colored Patch San
Juan. I believe this soldier was with the army in the Spanish American
War or with Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders who went up San Juan Hill.
